Martha Let's 'Em Have It!

B-Bob's "A-Wash" In Hits as Grammy Nominee Lets Loose

   "Everybody Dance, Now!"

Nobody can belt out those lyrics from C+C Music Factory's mega hit "Gonna Make You Sweat" like the original hitmaker... Martha Wash! And that's just what happened during B-Bob's 15th Anniversary Party Saturday Night (Oct 20, 2007).

Wash kicked off her high energy concert with that classic, then followed with others, including Black Box's "Everybody, Everybody", and "Strike It Up". With a voice that has grown richer with age (and the occasional cigarette), Wash got everyone bouncing on the dance floor. She easily weaved through classic dance hits from the early 90's, throwing in her more recent single "You LIft Me Up", then embracing the crowd with her much anticipated anthem "It's Raining Men". (Martha made up half of the duo "The Weathergirls" A.K.A . "2 Tons of Fun")

She did THAT Song?

Those in the know recognize Wash as the unheralded voice behind a long list of hits, works released under the names of studio groups like "C+C" and "Black Box". Wash told local television station NBC 15 the story of her efforts to get recognition for her vocal work, even after it was revealed others lip synched her voice on the songs' hit videos.

But Wash is quick to tell you those tunes are just part of who she is.

"I like all kinds of music. All kinds. I ESPECIALLY like it when people pay attention to the words of my songs." That should come as no surprise, as gospel music remains the core inspiration for the energy in her music.

So, more than a decade later, how is Martha Wash?

"I'd say she's fine!" Wash says, smiling. "The voice has changed a little, but I can still carry a tune!"

(Above) No electronic vocal enhancements needed nor wanted! Martha Wash shows the B-Bob's crowd why she's known the world over as "The Queen of the Clubs"! (Left) Renegades Tad and Bubba share a hearty laugh as they finally realize Martha Wash has nothing to do with laundry detergent. (Right) Cowboy Kevin from Pensacola gets a head of Brian.

(Above, left to right) Keith, perhaps our newest Renegade? The very idea makes Bob  smile, and others squint.  (Left) Jerry and Martha celebrate, as a furious Bubba seethes with anger just beyond the diva's shoulder.  Just remember... Jealousy is a harsh mistress.
